We started off by heading out to the very pretty town of Shepley, just outside Huddersfield. We met the Shepley WI President, Anne, at last year's pop-up shop and she asked us if we gave talks. Funnily enough, we had only been discussing it the day before!
Needless to say, as soon as we had our programme of events decided, we emailed it straight over and Shepley WI became our first booking. We were asked to deliver our Journeys into Millinery talk, the same one we gave at HATstock in March.
We had specifically been asked to bring along some of our hats and to explain a little about how hats are made...who were we to say no?
No-one argues with the Women's Institute, especially not if you still want cake...and let's face it, the WI has the best bakers. Fact.
We joined Dore Belles WI to lead them in a feather fascinator workshop. The first time we did this workshop together last year, it was somewhat of a baptism of fire. Over 70 members of the Seven Hills WI took part in that session. This time, things were a little easier as there were only 50 participants. It's all relative!
As you can see from the finished pieces, every one is as unique as the woman that made it, the very essence of choosing the perfect headwear...Oh, there may have been cake again too!
